Global Warming - Hope 1
Over the decades, we have so unscrupulously used the natural resources that we have almost come to a point of no return in terms of causing irreversible harm to our environment. However, there still is some hope if we take immediate and substantial amends globally.

Olmec Mask
As the earliest known Central American civilization that laid cultural, academic (writing, calendrical) and political foundations for subsequent societies (e.g. Mayan, Aztec), many consider Olmec's “The Mother Culture”. Olmec art has distinctive qualities, none more than the feline “jaguar mouth” depicting a down-turned open mouth. Representing such a feline man indicated power and divinity as the Jaguar was a known symbol of power. The exotic nature of Olmec-style artifact design became synonymous with elite status, imitated by non-Olmec civilizations in developing towns to bolster their status. Registration: This artifact is registered with The National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), by Bequest’s artifact partner Fundación Cultural Armella Spitalier (FCAS), and cannot leave the country of Mexico, except to exhibit internationally via 6 month INAH permit.

Artist Statement: My artwork is intuitive and non-conceptual. I like to create energy and motion on the canvas by contrasting bright colors and unusual shapes and patterns. Many of my paintings have a dreamy surreal feel to them. My goal is to make the world a happier place one painting at a time Frankel likes to contrast bright colors to create energy and motion on the canvas. He enhances this dynamic effect by often including different textures and rounder forms contained within linear and angular geometries. Our world is changing faster than ever in human history. People today feel anxious, unmoored, and fearful about the future. Frankel’s work is happy, positive and harmonious which helps people deal with what is going on in the world and in their lives. Many buyers of Frankel’s Work have reported it makes their houses and offices happy places to live and work.

Light Hole
A stick of incense burns, and the earth shakes. The ash of the incense is like an avalanche. The sun and shadows move. The human palm covers the solar system. Heavenly bodies are hidden in the moving lines of the palm. The human body closely and sensitively touches the nerves of the universe. The whitecaps in a drop of water billow up to the heavens. An eyelash reaches out and touches the mysterious line that communicates with the universe.

The Power of Colors Dealing with colors is a challenge within the fine arts. The various shades allow each artist infinite dialogue possibilities, leaving open countless visual games of the most diverse natures. It is true that each color provides great power on their own, but it is also possible to combine them in diverse impacting ways. Gui Calil draws on colors in imaginative ways. A common feature of his works in acrylic on canvas is their aesthetics and poetry, established on exploring the freedom provided by space, related to his work tools. Each work has something to communicate, displaying a specific relationship with reality. It is as if each new canvas dialogue with the viewer in a unique manner, but within a greater project, where one of purposes is to allow and encourage emotions to surface. At the first moment, the impact is what counts. It is impossible not to react to what Gui Calil features. His proposal to justify a dialogue between what he creates and what the viewer observes, is successful, and this first moment is key to generating empathy between the creator, the conceived object and the audience. Thereafter, we find ourselves thinking about how the artist uses the available resources to obtain the desired effect. It is worthwhile to think about the way the pieces are created, as it always provides a surprising effect, at the same time keeping elements common to all of the pieces. The paintings function as a great family. There are blood bonds between them, but also great differences in atmosphere and personality. Each painting requires an individual observation, however, this does not prevent a global overview, as a common trait of quality artwork is that they are capable of generating thought units that revolve around some concept or idea. The work of Gui Calil is impressive as a whole as it features a wide repertoire of colors, moving over a range that is able to provide a unique insight each time they are pondered. This means that his pieces are not tainted with sameness, but expand the creative spectrum at each glance. Therefore, his art maintains its freshness and indicates even more daring journeys for the near future.
